Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I create a new session and launch it?
A. All you need to do is:
1. open TelnetLauncher
2. In the main window click "New". (if the main window is not open you can select "New" from the "File" menu.
3. In the new shortcut window, type "My Telnet Session" (for example) in the field labeled "Shortcut Name"
4. In the field labeled "Server Address", enter "someserver.com"
5. Click "Save"
6. From the main window, launch the session by double clicking "My Telnet Session", or by highlighting it and clicking "Connect" (You can also launch it by right clicking the TelnetLauncher icon in the Dock and selecting "My Telnet Session"

Q. How can I save a session as a file I can double-click to open?
A. After creating a session, just select it in the TelnetLauncher window and press Apple-S. You will now be able to double click the file to open the session. This also works when double clicking multiple files.

Q. When I try to open a generic terminal window, I get a "telnet>" prompt. Did TelnetLauncher do this?
A. There have been several reports of people seeing this happen. TelnetLauncher does not intentionally change this, but somehow it is getting changed. I'll be fixing this as soon as I find the cause. In the meantime, you can select "Preferences" from Terminal's app menu and select the first option. Now you should be back to normal.

Q. How can I create shortcuts to command-line apps like top or pine?
A. Create a new shortcut and under "Session Type" select "Custom". Enter the custom command into the space provided and you'll now be able to launch the command from the TelnetLauncher Window, or from the Dock menu.

Q. Do you offer site licensing?
A. Yes, visit http://www.pidog.com/telnetlauncher/siteregister.html. I also give an educational discount of 15% for site licensing. Email support@pidog.com for more info.

Q. Does TelnetLauncher support terminal programs other than Apple's Terminal?
A. Currently no other terminal apps support external control. Ask the author of the app you are interested in to add applescript or session saving support.
